Davos Freestyle Snowboarding Courses & Lessons

As a sport, snowboarding has been defined by it’s free style athletes. Think Shaun White, Gigi Ruff, Nicholas Muller and Travis Rice and the picture is pretty clear….and cool! You wanna learn some of that stuff? Well you gotta start somewhere and all of the above had and still have a coach!

The levels below give an indication of what we are aiming for but freestyle is really about expressing yourself without always thinking about ‘the perfect turn’ i.e. you tell us what you fancy learning and we’ll do our best to show you to make sure you have a great bag of tricks!

FS1

So now you fancy learning some moves? So much of snowboarding today is geared towards freestyle riding but rarely is enough time spent covering the basics to keep people safe and give them a chance to really progress. FS1 is set up to cover the basics and provide people with a platform to jump from (if you’ll excuse the pun!)

Aims
• To master a flat board base and create ‘pop’ from an ‘Ollie’ and ‘Nollie’
• To use the corners of board to introduce rotation (on the flat to begin with)
• To ‘press’ on to your nose and tail to begin spinning
• Learn how to ‘pop’ from switch to regular stance
• Introduce the terrain park to you and some small kickers

FS2

OK so you’ve been riding for a while and enjoy jumping around on your board and spinning 180’s on the side of piste but you feel a little intimidated riding into the park with all the ‘yo boyz’ around!! Well, let Synergy take you in and give you the skills to enjoy it rather than worry about it. It’s as much a place for you as the guy with the head phones and xxl pants! FS2 is geared up to take you into the park and give you the skills and confidence to hit some of the features in it.

Aims
• To safely get through a terrain park (calling your drops and spotting your landings)
• To use the jumps in a park to grab front side and back side airs
• Establish how to use the board’s edges and your body posture to create rotation in the air
• Airborne 180’s and 360’s
• Introduce boxes and rails (with no gaps/jumps)

FS3

Right, this getting air stuff is wicked! You’re landing jumps, starting to make some solid grabs and throwing down some 1’s and 3’s over small kickers. Where do you take it from here? The answer is easy! Let start getting faster and more tech. FS3 is about perfecting your air by adding some style and maybe a different way of doing things. How about jumping front-side 3 but doing it from your toe edge? Or buttering into your back side 180 to make it look really stylish? You get the idea!

Aims
• To put it down faster, bigger and more stylish
• To introduce pre rotation, late rotation and ‘buttering’
• Gap to boxes and rails with some more tech slides
• SUPER PIPE?
• To get you into a set of XXL pants…… ‘yo boy’
