Which Level is for me?
PEAK 1:
Ah, the first step! It’s time to discover what all this skiing fuss is about! We’ll teach you about your equipment and get you on your feet.
Once you’re up it’s all about mastering those edges to create grip and take control of your speed and direction. We’ll show you the techniques to control your speed and turn safely so you’ll be covering the mountain and using those chairlifts in no time.
AIMS:
• Understanding your equipment and how to adjust it
• Turning in both directions using the Snow plough on a variety of runs
• To understand basic body alignment and pressure control
• To get on and off chairlifts and uplifts safely
• To have so much fun you can’t wait to climb PEAK 2!
PEAK 2:
So you’ve done this before, but maybe not for a while? You’re thinking about turning with parallel skis on blue runs but things don’t feel quite right yet and when the going gets a little steep or too fast you come unstuck. It’s time to develop your range of movement’s over the ski’s and create a greater awareness of your posture and inputs so you’re better at controlling the pressures you put through your ski boots.
We’ll have you starting to carve the hill and covering flat spots like there’s no tomorrow!
AIMS:
• To build confidence and develop a greater understanding of movements and their outcome on different terrain. We’ll get you leaning forward and not back!
• To build your confidence and technique using parallel ski’s as much of the time as possible
• To adjust pressure and encourage flex in your knees to keep the ski’s gripping around each turn
• To get you safely up and down your fist gentle red runs
• To have so much FUN you can’t wait to climb PEAK 3!
PEAK 3:
Alright so your Ski’s are parallel? Most of the time anyway! So we’re going to introduce some slightly more advanced techniques to keep things more stable at speed and continue growing your confidence on a variety of terrain.
Peak 3 is all about confidence boosting so ensure you feel in control the whole time and are ready to step up the pace a little so you can develop your carving skills. Carving is all about ‘tilting’ the ski to maintain grip and edge hold around the entire arc of a turn. With these skills your confidence will dramatically improve as you can put more faith in your skis
AIMS:
• Build up your speed and confidence
• To understand what it is to carve around the arc of different shape turns
• To tackle the speed trap in Parsenn and see just how fast you can go!
• To cover the 15Km run from the top of the world to Klosters village
PEAK 4:
OK so you’re getting to grip with this whole skiing thing huh? So it’s time to raise your game. You’re covering most of the hill and starting to think about some of those steeper pistes but you’re a little worried about ice and bumps. Have you seen some skiers do some twirls on the slope and come down backwards? Fancy learning a bit of that? Well it’s time to sharpen up those edges and give you the skills you’ll need to safely take on board some free style moves and really pick up the pace.
Peak 4 is about developing the way you use your edges for grip and for wash to allow the ski’s to move more freely beneath you across more varied terrain. From steep pistes to icy spots we’ll equip you with the knowledge to ski harder than ever before and stay off your bum!
AIMS:
• Getting low and getting fast.
• Tackling some steeper reds
• Flatland spins with a bit of Switch
• Introduction to jumps
• Mastering the finer points of using those poles
• To have so much FUN you can’t wait to climb PEAK 4!
PEAK 5:So it’s time to Summit! You don’t want too much structure to learning at this level. You need the freedom to ski hard and learn on the job. We’ll point out the hidden spots and take you to the natural half pipes and show where we can test our nerve. Fancy building a kicker somewhere? Or maybe just session one in the park? The 5th Peak is about working with your strengths and eliminating your weaknesses and taking you to your limit, every hour of every session. Think of this as guided discovery to becoming an all mountain legend!
